We mostly planted by hand, marking the beds with the "Cub", and then got down on our knees & placed the plants in the soil individually. We did use the transplanter for the lettuce & leeks, but it was frustrating... they kept getting stuck in the machine & backing up, or planting sideways sometimes. We ended up going back to the old by-hand method. Much quieter... allowing us to hear all those springtime bird songs.
We spread out frost cloth on most of the beds we planted, as the weather report called for 41 degrees tonight... too close to freezing to take any chances. But all covered up, they should be fine. Look at these great storm clouds rolling in!
