10,000 plants

Wednesday we planted 10,000 vegetable plants.  Dropped into the ground without any gas-powered machines.  About 8,000 of those individually placed with our own hands.  Wow.  Does your back hurt just thinking about that?  Mine does.

Lettuce transplants, leeks grown in large trays in the greenhouse, watermelon & cantelope transplants, eggplant transplants, the entire field "A" in winter squash seeds.  And beans, carrots, & herbs put in with the push seeder.

It was another scorching day, but there was enough moisture in the soil left from the storm (crazy lightning & wind-- but no real damage & not a huge amount of rain)...  so we decided to leave irrigating them until tomorrow.
