day of flowers & weeds

Today I planted flowers.   In a few months when they flower, CSA members can pick-their-own bouquets!  Varieties included:  Globe Amaranth, Black-Eyed Susan, Calendula, Bachelors Buttons, Cosmos.  I seeded a row of sunflowers-- 7 different kinds!
On the right of the picture you can see the row of sad-looking rhubarb we transplanted out of F.  We put some water on these guys for the afternoon.

I weeded onions for the rest of the day, using a little rake that you can drag right over the onion plants & scrape away all the little weeds without harming the onion at all.  Pretty ingenious if you ask me.

And the mother hen is venturing farther from the coop!
